Be Kind, ReMind

Be Kind, Remind is a personal memorial project created to honor my late father through film, design, and storytelling. The goal was to transform fragile family Super 8 footage into a shared experience that celebrated his personality —playful, nostalgic, and full of joy.

Processing
The project began with restoring and digitizing several reels of Super 8 film. Each reel was carefully cleaned and converted to digital format before being edited into a cohesive memorial video. The editing process focused on pacing and emotional narrative, shaping decades of footage into a short film that captured the spirit of my dad and the memories our family shared.

To extend the experience beyond the screen, I designed a physical presentation package inspired by the classic video rental era. The box was modeled after a Blockbuster-style DVD case — an affectionate nod to the ritual of family movie nights. Inside, I included playful movie-themed items such as popcorn, candy, 3-D glasses, and trivia cards inspired by Jeopardy! to reflect my younger brother’s love of board games.

Showtime
The finished piece became more than a memorial video — it was an interactive experience designed to bring our family together. By combining restored archival footage with thoughtful packaging design, the project blended nostalgia, humor, and personal storytelling into a celebration of my father’s life.
