More Than a Number: VOL. 2
2023–2024 President’s Report

The 2023–2024 President’s Report, More Than a Number, reframed institutional reporting around the people and stories behind the data. The design balances narrative storytelling with financial transparency, using illustration and an expanded editorial structure to give the report a more engaging, magazine-like format.

To support longer narratives, the publication grid was adjusted to allow greater flexibility for story-driven layouts while still accommodating charts, financial tables, and institutional data. Custom illustrations were commissioned for feature stories and financial graphics, adding visual continuity and helping translate complex information into accessible visuals.

My Role

Lead designer responsible for visual direction, layout design, illustrator coordination, and production in collaboration with editorial and communications staff.

Process

• Developed the visual approach to support the theme More Than a Number, emphasizing human-centered storytelling.

• Commissioned and collaborated with illustrators to create custom artwork for feature stories and financial graphics.

• Reworked the publication grid to accommodate longer narratives while preserving structure for financial and institutional data.

• Designed layouts integrating storytelling, illustration, and reporting in a cohesive format.

• Worked closely with copyeditors to refine section headings and edit copy for readability and copyfit.

Outcome

The redesigned report presented institutional information in a more narrative-driven format, pairing data with stories and illustrations that highlight the people and impact behind the numbers.
